the versatile blogger award

Blog Award, Music, Tag

Hello my lovely friends 🙂

I’m back today with a nomination to another award! I was nominated by the sweet Megan @ bookslayer reads. Although the time I’ve known her is quite short, her blog is really a great place and worth of your visit, so make sure to check her blog out as well!

  • Show the award on your blog
  • Thank the person that has nominated you
  • Share 7 different facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15 blogs of your choice (I will be nominating five blogs)
  • Link your nominees and let them know of your nomination

The rules here are short and sweet so lets go ahead and get started!

7 Facts About Me
  1. My favorite animal is the giraffe. I’m literally obsessed with their elegance, and find them to be so cute! They look so genial, yet regal. One day, I want to become a zookeeper just so I can be near them.
  2. I’m very meticulous and obsessive when it comes to watching a TV show. I have to watch every minute in the correct order… I also can’t handle cliffhangers so I always have to stop in the middle of an episode. This is why I can never watch anything with anyone. It’s also why I can only watch a TV show when all the episodes are out.
  3. I love food, but I’m not picky. I’ll eat anything and everything, and really can’t tell the difference in the quality of food unless someone points it out to me.
  4. Though I follow recipes, I never actually use the designated measurements. Maybe it’s cause I’m too lazy to actually measure things out. Or maybe it’s because I like to pretend I’m a professional chef.
  5. I love fashion/lifestyle vloggers. They’re what I watch before falling asleep or during my workouts.
  6. I love listening to people talk. Voices are my favorite things about people, and I can normally identify a person by their voices.
  7. I can’t remember names to save my life, so if I remember your name, consider yourself honored.

Sorry for boring you with miscellaneous facts about myself, but I hope you enjoyed nonetheless!

I nominate:

Lashaan and Trang @ Bookidote

Beth @ Reading Every Night

Holly @ Nut Free Nerd

Sammie @ Books and Biros

Donna @ ChocolatenWaffles

These are some of my personal favorite book blogs. They are very worthy of this award, and everyone needs to go check them out 🙂

liebster award

Hello my lovely friends!

I was nominated by the wonderful Lauren Busser at Comma Hangover  quite a while back, but am finally posting the required post about it now. Thank you Lauren, for nominating me 🙂 Everyone, go check out her amazing blog!

Here are the rules:

1) You must acknowledge the person who nominated you and display the award
2) Answer 11 questions that the blogger gives you
3) Give eleven facts about yourself
4) Nominate 11 blogs that you think are deserving of the award.

My Questions

1. Is there a book that has inspired you to travel to a certain place (or put it on your bucket list)?

Back in time? I loooove historical fiction.

2. What is one quote that has always stuck in your mind from the moment you read it?
“And In That Moment I Swear We Were Infinite”. -The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

3. Is there any character that you love to hate?

I used to HATE Augustus Goop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory…

4. What are you thoughts on poetry? Love it? Hate it? Lets discuss!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! But I always need to discuss the poem with someone. I feel like you get a deeper understanding of the poem, when you hear the interpretations of various people.

5. Are you a writer? What is the first thing you remember writing?
Not by profession, but I did attempt writing a story once. I have trouble with commitment…

6. Do you have a particular soundtrack you like to read by or do you read in total silence? Can you give us a short list of songs you find perfect for reading?
I prefer reading in total silence, but if I do listen to music, I listen to quite instrumental music that doesn’t distract me from the book. Such as Yiruma, or the Piano Guys.

7. What are your hobbies outside of reading? Do you do anything fun on weekends?
Baking, violin, running, eating, making music… Weekends are usually reserved for volunteer work and church. I know, I’m a bore.

8. Does you community have a local independent bookseller? What is unique about them that you love and why do you keep going back?
NO!! We live in a small community that doesn’t have much of anything. Our library does have a great free book section though!

9. Do you belong to any book clubs? Have any feelings about book clubs in general?
I’m a part of the Our Shared Self, Goodreads online club.

10. Is there an upcoming release that hasn’t been buzzed about enough that you would like to give a shout out to?
I tend to not keep up with new releases, mainly because I’m so busy keeping up with already released books!

11. Open your current book to Page 128 and post the first full sentence here.

I am currently reading Oliver Twist online, so I’ll just post the first full sentence from Chapter 4. :It was late next morning when Oliver awoke, from a sound, long sleep.” That sounds amazing, coming from a jet lagged, not adjusted to the time change girl like me.

Book Fangirling Blog Award

Blog Award, Books, Tag

Hello my lovely friends! I’m so excited to share with you that I have been tagged by Beth (check out her delightful blog at Reading Every Night) for the Book Fangirling Blog Award. Thank you Beth for this wonderful nomination! Although I fangirl over certain books, it’s more common to find me in a sort of daze after a really good book. Once that period of time is over, however, you’ll find me talking nonstop about the amazing book I just read!

  • Create a post to accept your award.
  • Add the blog award button into your post and put it on the side of your blog as a widget. Visit fangirling for the award button.
  • Answer the questions I have below.
  • Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award.
  • Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees.

Beth’s Questions

1. The three main characters from the last three books you read are your partners in the zombie apocalypse. Who are they and do you think you’d survive the outbreak?

The last three books I’ve read are Vicious by V.E Schwab (my review here), The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Phillipp Sendker (review here) and The End of Everything by Megan Abbott. Honestly, if Victor from Vicious were by my side, I wouldn’t have any qualms about a zombie apocalypse. But the remaining two characters leave something to be desired. Julia in The Art of Hearing Heartbeats is a bit weak, and is the average young adult that lives in New York. If Julia’s father, Tin Win, on the other hand were to join, I’d be more than happy to let him in my posse. Tin Win has the ability to hear the heartbeats of others, and is constantly very poised, calm and confident. Lizzie from The End of Everything is the typical teen who doesn’t do much within the book action-wise. I’d have to say, I’d probably be the first to perish in the zombie apocalypse.

2. If you could take one thing, be it a place, an event, a character, an object, out of any book and make it real what would you pick?

Narnia, this series was a childhood favorite, and to imagine another world I could escape to just in my wardrobe, would be amazing. Plus all the characters within that world seem magical and beautiful, and even till today, that place has such a strong hold on me!

3. The world is ending and you have just enough time to read one book, what would you choose and why?

This is definitely a hard one. I feel as if at that point, I’d frantically be finding my friends and families how much I love them, not reading a book… But I’d definitely want to reread Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. I know this is a children’s picture book, but it was read to me as a child, and I cherish the memories that follow.

4. What is one thing you wish there was more of in the world?

Forgiveness, so many of the world’s problems seems to hinge on grudges, bitterness and unresolved problems. I believe that it is possible for us to live with more love, happiness and joy when everyone is able to put down their differences, forgive and move on with life. Imagine how many world problems would be solved when disputes are resolved and everyone is able to make decisions without bitterness and resentment.

5. If you could have any superpower what would you choose, and what would be your origin story?

The superpower I would choose would be mind-manipulation. This way I can convince others to do things for me, although I do believe this to be the most dangerous superpower out there.Although I’m not sure what my origin story would be, I’d definitely want to not know about my power until one day when I realize something’s wrong with me. Almost like a coming of age story, and then I have to battle with the moral implications of using my power.
